The bear is no more, and this small cave will make a nice campsite while I prepare him.
Once I found him alone, it was not much trouble to gain the advantage. Bears can’t see well in the dark, at least not as well as Elven eyes.
As he slept, I had plenty of time to set my trap near the entrance, then put several arrows in him from afar before he even knew where I was. In his rage charging out of the cave, he stepped on my trap with such force he shattered the plate, but it did its job to hold him in place. Finished him off with one more well-placed arrow.
In the cave, I found the remains of the Halfling. Male, middle-aged. Had no chance. I buried him just outside the cave.
